Joseph F. Healey, Jr. passed away at home suddenly on Wednesday, November 6, 2013, eight days after celebrating his 74th birthday. A native Delawarean, he attended P.S. du Pont High School and then proudly served four years with the US Navy.

Joe was a Clerk in the Superior Court of Wilmington, a professional printer, the Printing Department Supervisor at ICI Americas, and then became an electrician for T.A. Rietdorf & Sons. Joe semi retired several years ago but continued to work odd jobs.

Joe collected butterflies and liked reading about WWII, but his love was Bass fishing. He also enjoyed traveling to Europe and woodworking. Joe was a third degree black belt in Shotokan Karate and was Chief Instructor for many years at NORDEL Karate Club. He was also the President of the Arden Swim Club for many years.

Joe was a nine year survivor of pancreatic cancer.

Joe is survived by his loving family, wife Linda, sons Joseph F.,III and Brian, daughters Renee and Jeanielynn, and grandchildren Tyler, Alyssa, and Mckenzie, all of Wilmington. He was predeceased by his daughter Breeanlynn and mother Helen.

A visitation with the family will be held Thursday, November 14th from 7 to 9 pm at the McCRERY & HARRA Funeral Home, 3924 Concord Pike, Wilmington, DE. Interment will take place the following day, Friday, at the Delaware Veterans Cemetery, 2465 Chesapeake City Rd., Bear, DE, at 1 pm. All are welcome.
